American actress and musician and Elf star Zooey Deschanel is busy these days planning the shooting of her upcoming project film “Merv.” Filming of her new romantic–comedy film Merv is underway for Carolina Beach.
Casting calls have been posted for the filming of Merv, and paying attention to the security of filming, film permits are being secured. This upcoming rom-com is planned to be filmed in Cure Beach next week with cameras set rolling.
Marvinator Productions has also submitted a permit for filming this upcoming film in neighboring Carolina Beach.
Carolina Beach is North Carolina’s town on Pleasure Island. It has provided a suitable backdrop for many films and series.
According to permits obtained by Port City Daily, Filming preparations will begin Friday through the weekend at the Carolina Beach Boardwalk and The Starlight Inn.

When and Where ‘Merv’ Took Place in Carolina Beach
Jessica Swale-directed Merv will be filming from 6 am to 10 pm on April 19, 22, 24, and 26 at The Starlite Inn Motel, located at 201 Cape Fear Blvd in Carolina Beach.
A letter handed out to businesses near this motel stated that scenes to be filmed here include:- “simple dialogue and drive-up/away shots at the hotel,” void of “loud noises.”
Due to the filming, there will be no impact on traffic, and roads will not be blocked, while signage for no parking will be gradually installed in some areas to make space for production-related vehicles.
Merv’s shooting will affect approximately 7 locations near the Inn on the west side of North Lake Park Boulevard and approximately 18 locations south of the 200 block of Cape Fear Boulevard.
But due to filming, this effect will be there only for the days specified as per the permit.
On April 22, 6 AM. to 9 PM. The cast and crew Members are also will set up on the boardwalk particularly near the pavilion and gazebo stage, as well as they set up on Hurricane Alleys at the same time schedule.
Scenes filmed around the boardwalk at Carolina Beach will take place at Christmastime, The boardwalk will be decorated with Christmas decorations for the filming of Merv.
Along the Boardwalk, decorated with lights and wreaths, some boardwalk businesses also will be transformed for the holiday season.
The letter description also included the filming of a dog fashion show Because last week, the crew called for several stand-ins and background actors, including dog walkers and dog owners.
Note: Filming taking place on the boardwalk will not close down area businesses, but it will only impact pedestrians to the extent that people present during filming may be prevented from getting close to the camera roll.
