On Wednesday, Legacy Ridge Country Club in Bonham turned its golf course into a movie set as the filming for the Sherman-Based Film, The Short Game begins.

The film actually has a local story about the reconciliation of the two Sherman brothers. One aims to get a golf scholarship, and the other is autistic. Along the way, they learn that they are better off together.

The film is executively directed by, Dan Hegel who is known for The Great Turkey Town Miracle, Purgatory Station, and Jeep Commercial Spec in 2018.

On the other hand, the film is Co-executively produced by, Joren Christensen who is a famous actor, writer, and producer, known for The Great Turkey Town Miracle and Didymos.

The director said the story of the film is full of great lessons which focus on family, friends, and faith. Hegel said, “Everyone has a story to tell and the more we learn about each other’s struggles in life, I think the better for everyone,”.

The filming of The Short Game is scheduled ahead. It was delayed by a week due to the SAG AFRTRA strike, as th Hollywood actors and writers want better pay and protection from streaming and artificial intelligence.

“We got our exemption based upon the fact that we’re in independent film and that we did not yet have distribution,” Co-Executive Producer, Christensen said.

The filming would only take 21 days in total. When production ends at the golf course, the crew will move to various locations around Sherman.

No decisions are taken when and where the film have its premiere, but Texomas are encouraged to be on the lookout for “The Short Game” movie.
