Daniel Radcliffe is remembering one of the most intense moments from filming the Harry Potter movies, and it is something he says he will never forget. The Lost City star recently spoke about a dangerous stunt he performed while making Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, revealing just how dramatic the filming experience was.
The 36-year-old actor shared the story while attending the opening night premiere of “Every Brilliant Thing“ at the Hudson Theatre in New York City on March 12, 2026. During the event, Radcliffe looked back at his time working on the beloved Harry Potter film series, which ran from 2001 to 2011.
Speaking about the movies during an interview with PEOPLE, Radcliffe said the films were full of unforgettable moments, especially when it came to performing stunts.
“There was so much in those films,” the actor explained. He said the stunt scenes were always exciting and sometimes shocking to experience while filming.
Radcliffe described one particular scene from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009) that stood out the most. In the scene, the actor had to start underwater before being lifted into the air using a wire stunt system. As he rose up, he had to pass through a burning ring of fire placed above the water.
The actor said the moment felt “mind-blowing” while filming. He remembered being pulled out of the water and bursting upward through the ring of flames during the dramatic sequence. According to Radcliffe, that powerful stunt is something he has never forgotten.
The movie Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was the sixth film in the famous fantasy series. Along with Daniel Radcliffe, the film starred Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Michael Gambon, Alan Rickman, Tom Felton, and Maggie Smith.
Radcliffe played the main role of Harry Potter, also known as “the boy who lived,” across eight films. Together with Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley and Emma Watson as Hermione Granger, the trio became one of the most famous groups in movie history.
During the conversation, Radcliffe also talked about the upcoming HBO Harry Potter television series, which is introducing a new group of young actors. The show features Dominic McLaughlin, Alastair Stout, and Arabella Stanton playing Harry, Ron, and Hermione as they study magic at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Radcliffe said seeing a new generation step into these roles feels “surreal.” He also revealed that he has been in contact with his former co-stars Rupert Grint and Emma Watson. The actors have been sharing similar feelings as they watch new performers begin the same journey they started many years ago.
According to Radcliffe, the experience makes him feel protective of the new cast. He said when he sees pictures of the young actors, his first instinct is to “grab them and hug them.”
Meanwhile, Radcliffe is currently starring in the stage production “Every Brilliant Thing,” which will run on Broadway at the Hudson Theatre for 13 weeks.
