Disney+ is getting ready to bring a brand-new magical series to fans, as ‘Coven Academy‘ has officially wrapped filming for Season 1. The show is already creating buzz because it is being seen as a fresh replacement for ‘Agatha All Along’, and now fans are one step closer to seeing it on screen.
The big update came from young actress Ora Duplass, who plays one of the lead roles in the upcoming series. During a conversation with Collider, she confirmed that production has finished. “We wrapped a week ago,” she revealed, sharing her excitement after returning from filming.
The series tells the story of teenage witches who must come together when their town faces danger. Along with Ora Duplass, the show also stars Malina Pauli Weissman, Tiffani Thiessen, and Camp Rock 3 star Malachi Barton. The mix of young and experienced actors is expected to bring strong energy to the show.
Speaking to Collider, Duplass opened up about her journey to getting the role. She said getting the call felt like an “out-of-body” moment because she never thought she would be selected. The casting process was not easy, as she had to go through seven auditions before finally landing the part.
She also shared how intense the final steps were. The actress had to perform chemistry reads with other cast members to make sure they worked well together on screen. She remembered feeling nervous while entering the Disney studio for the screen test, especially seeing many other girls auditioning for the same role.
Filming for the pilot episode began in June in Vancouver, where Duplass said she met her co-stars, who quickly became like family to her. She described the show as young adult, magical, romantic, and a little spooky, adding that it feels like one of the grittiest Disney projects made for this age group.
According to Duplass, the show mixes the classic Disney feel with a more mature tone, making it enjoyable for both younger viewers and older fans. This balance could help ‘Coven Academy’ stand out when it premieres.
While the filming is now complete, the series is moving into post-production, and an official release date has not yet been announced. However, with production done, fans can expect more updates soon as Disney+ prepares to launch its next big supernatural series.
