Alien: Earth is officially back in production — and FX has wasted no time giving fans something to get excited about.
Cameras are now rolling on Season 2 of Noah Hawley’s hit sci-fi series, and FX Networks has marked the occasion by releasing the first behind-the-scenes promo image from the new season, featuring Wendy (Sydney Chandler) and Hermit (Alex Lawther) back together on set. At the same time, three significant new cast additions have been confirmed, according to ComicBookMovie.

The New Faces Joining the Cast
Tracey Ullman, best known for her long-running Tracey Ullman’s Show, has joined the ensemble alongside Sam Spruell of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and Jerome Flynn, who Game of Thrones fans will instantly recognize as Bronn. All three join the previously announced Peter Dinklage — Tyrion Lannister himself — meaning Season 2 marks an unexpected but very welcome reunion for two of the most beloved characters in Game of Thrones history. No character details for any of the new additions have been revealed.
Where Season 2 Picks Up
Season 1 ended with Wendy, Hermit, and the other hybrids — alongside a pair of xenomorphs — seizing control of the Prodigy research centre and imprisoning several key characters including Boy Kavalier, Kirsh, Dame Sylvia, Atom Eins, and Morrow. It was a triumphant moment for the hybrids, but showrunner Hawley has made clear that the victory may be short-lived.
Speaking with Empire, Hawley framed the end of Season 1 as a pivotal but precarious turning point — comparing the hybrids’ moment of exhilaration to the famous Graduate bus scene, and immediately raising the question of what comes next when Weyland-Yutani ships are already on their way.
Where the Story Is Heading
Hawley has also teased that Season 2 will push beyond the island setting that anchored the first season — something many fans had been hoping for. He described a desire to explore the corporate politics of the world more deeply, drawing a comparison to the power dynamics of Game of Thrones and expressing interest in what happens when the show’s carefully maintained levels of containment begin to break down.
He also connected the show’s central themes — humanity trapped between a hostile natural world and the dangerous technology it has created — to the real world, describing it as rich territory to explore further in the new season.
Alien: Earth stars Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, and many others across its ensemble cast, with Season 2 now adding Dinklage, Flynn, Ullman, and Spruell to that lineup.
A premiere date for Alien: Earth Season 2 on FX has not yet been announced.
