A Danish Christmas is a 2026 holiday romance comedy movie from Hallmark Media. It is directed by Colin Theys and written by Juliana Wimbles, from a story by Emilie Ullerup and Linda Carolei. It stars Emilie Ullerup as Marie and Corey Sevier as Ryan Miller. Kyle Cassie also appears, as the other Ryan Miller. It was filmed in Copenhagen, Denmark, with the family inn scenes shot outside the city.
Marie is a hotel tech executive from Chicago who goes home to Copenhagen for Christmas and helps at her family’s Andersen Inn. A guest named Ryan Miller checks in, and she mistakes him for a travel writer with the same name. She builds a Christmas tour of the city to win a good review, because her mother plans to sell the inn after the New Year. The real writer arrives later.
A Danish Christmas premiered on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at 8/7c on Hallmark Channel, as part of Countdown to Christmas. It streamed on Hallmark+ the next day.

The scenes at the Andersen Inn were shot in and around Farumgård, a former manor house on Farum Lake, in the town of Farum northwest of Copenhagen, according to Moviedelic. The church is known for its spiral staircase on the outside of the tower, which gives a view over the city. According to the Hallmark Q&A, one of the last filming days took the crew up the narrow tower staircase. Ullerup said she grew up in Copenhagen but had never been to the top.
Visiting: Please check opening hours and the tower’s seasonal access before you go.

A Danish Christmas Behind the Scenes
To make your search for A Danish Christmas filming even more interesting, here are some behind-the-scenes moments that Emilie Ullerup shared on her own Instagram account. She is also an executive producer on the movie. This is her first time producing for Hallmark.
Producer Linda Corolei called her with the idea of a movie about Denmark and hygge, and within three weeks they had a script. Ullerup said she wanted to bring her family home. Her mother, sister, nephew, cousin and her cousin’s son appear in the film, and so does her husband, Kyle Cassie.
Fun fact: Ullerup said Sevier was nervous about the Danish mulled wine, but he loved it after one sip. For another Hallmark movie with Ullerup, see Missing the Boat, and for another 2026 Hallmark holiday movie shot in Canada, see Adopting St. Nick.
