Sarah Chalke filmed the long-awaited Scrubs revival with a broken finger — and rather than hiding it, she’s now revealing that sharp-eyed viewers can actually find the evidence hiding in plain sight throughout the early episodes.
Playdate star made the admission during a guest co-hosting appearance on Live With Kelly and Mark on Monday, filling in for Kelly Ripa, who is currently on an extended absence following oral surgery. When co-host Mark Consuelos brought up a conversation about common injuries, Chalke didn’t hold back, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The Doctor’s Warning She Chose to Ignore
Chalke revealed that she broke her finger shortly before heading back to film the Scrubs revival, which returned to ABC in February 2026 alongside original co-stars Zach Braff and Donald Faison — the first time the cast had reunited since 2010. When she went to see her doctor about the injury, the advice she received was clear and direct: the finger needed to be buddy-taped and left alone throughout production. If she removed the tape during filming breaks, she would be back in the doctor’s office within two months requiring surgery.
Chalke followed the advice. Grudgingly, but she followed it.
The Easter Egg Hiding in the Revival
The result of that decision is visible on screen for anyone who knows where to look. Chalke told Consuelos and the Live audience that throughout the first several episodes of the Scrubs revival, her fingers can be seen taped together — a small but entirely real detail that made it into the finished footage. She described it as a little Easter egg sitting at the top of the season for observant viewers.
She paired the confession with a physical demonstration, holding up her hand to show the audience exactly what it looked like.
The Injury Still Hasn’t Fully Healed
The more concerning detail in Chalke’s update is that, months after wrapping production, the finger still hasn’t fully recovered. She told Consuelos that she may need to return to the doctor, suggesting the healing process has been significantly slower than anticipated. She also mentioned a recovering MCL tear as an additional ongoing issue — describing her collection of injuries as something that might well end up on her epitaph.
She also made a pointed comparison between her own injury history and Consuelos’ — noting that while he has torn ligaments and injured his shoulder, the stories he tells about getting hurt are at least dramatic. Hers tend to involve things like stepping on a pinecone or misjudging a limbo.
Scrubs is currently streaming on Hulu, with the revival available on ABC.
