ABC’s ‘R.J. Decker’ Season 2 Casting Call: North Carolina Residents Can Join the Show as Paid Extras

A new opportunity has arrived for aspiring background actors in North Carolina as ABC’s crime drama “R.J. Decker” begins production on its second season. The series is returning to the Wilmington area, and local talent now has a chance to appear on screen as paid extras.

The casting news was first reported by The News & Observer, which revealed that the production team is searching for new extras for upcoming scenes. The latest casting call from Kimmie Stewart Casting is looking for people who can fit specific roles, including athletic characters and a gym-related role.

Unlike many major productions that require actors to travel, this opportunity is focused on people who can work locally in the Wilmington, North Carolina area. Travel and accommodation costs will not be covered by the production.

‘R.J. Decker’ Season 2 Needs New Extras for Upcoming Scenes

ABC’s “R.J. Decker” follows a former newspaper photographer who starts a new life as a private investigator after serving time in prison. Although the story takes place in South Florida, much of the series has been filmed in North Carolina because of its coastal locations and experienced production crews.

The second season is continuing production in Wilmington, with filming expected to bring significant economic activity to the state. Officials from the North Carolina Film Office previously noted that the production is expected to spend more than $40 million in the state, with most of the season being filmed in North Carolina.

Who Can Apply for the ‘R.J. Decker’ Season 2 Casting Call?

The newest casting search includes several paid background opportunities.

One role is looking for “ripped body builders” who are 21 years old or older. The production is open to actors of all races and genders for this part. Selected extras will receive $150 for the filming day.

Another opening is for a gym guy role. Casting directors are looking for a Latino man aged 25 and older who looks like someone who regularly works out. The pay rate for this role is $180 per day.

Earlier casting notices for Season 2 also included featured roles such as guards, civilians, FBI agents, nurses, and other background characters.

How to Apply for the ABC Show Extra Roles

Interested applicants need to submit their information to Kimmie Stewart Casting. The casting team is selecting performers mainly through submitted photos, so applicants must follow the instructions carefully.

Applicants are asked to provide recent photos, personal details, and their availability for filming dates. The production team has warned that incomplete submissions may not be considered.

People applying should also remember that these are local hire positions, meaning performers must arrange their own transportation and lodging if they do not already live near Wilmington.

Production for Season 2 of “R.J. Decker” is scheduled to continue throughout July in the Wilmington area. Reports indicate that filming began around early July, with permits showing production activity starting on July 9.
