Netflix’s next major feature film is officially underway — and the streets of East London are already giving fans their first real look at what’s coming.
Production has begun in Clerkenwell, London, on A Matter of Time, a new Netflix film directed by Harry Bradbeer, the Emmy-winning filmmaker behind Fleabag, Killing Eve, and both Enola Holmes films. According to What’s On Netflix, on-set photographers spotted the cast filming scenes around a local pub and a church, with the location dressed with signage reading “Saint Peter’s Community Centre.”

The Cast in Action
Leading the film is Ben Stiller, best known for Zoolander, There’s Something About Mary, and more recently Severance, who was seen on set wearing a sharp tailored blue suit near the entrance of the community centre while speaking with crew members between takes. Alongside him is Nicholas Galitzine of Red, White & Royal Blue and The Idea of You, who was spotted on the steps in a blue button-down shirt and jeans, sharing laughs with a co-star in the director’s chairs. Bella Maclean of Sex Education and Rivals was also captured on the cobblestone streets, dressed casually in a light blue shirt and dark flared jeans.
Three additional cast members have now been confirmed from the set photos. Emma Sidi, known for Starstruck and Ghosts, and Amy Wren, best recognized as Mildrith in The Last Kingdom, were both identified on set — with footage suggesting a frantic, rushed sequence involving one character carrying an oversized blue duffel bag down the steps. Young actress Cecily Cleeve of Legends and Widow Clicquot was also spotted in a maroon school uniform, clutching a grey stuffed animal.
What the Film Is About
Netflix has released an official logline that blends supernatural and romantic elements into one high-concept story. The film follows an unlikely angel sent from heaven to convince a reclusive man to willingly give up his life for a greater purpose. The man agrees — but his decision to accept death unexpectedly sparks a new passion for living and a romance that could alter the course of history entirely.
The screenplay was written by a formidable team including Justin Haythe of Revolutionary Road, Madeleine George of Only Murders in the Building, Peter Byrne, and Academy Award winner Simon Beaufoy, whose credits include Slumdog Millionaire and The Full Monty.
The film is produced by Debra Hayward, Larry Mark, and Sony Pictures, with Michael Dreyer serving as executive producer.
When Will It Release?
With production only just beginning in summer 2026, Netflix has not yet set an official release date. Based on a standard production timeline, the film is expected to be on track for a potential mid-to-late 2027 release.
