Mad Magazine cartoonist Al Jaffee dead at 102

An American cartoonist Al Jaffee is no more among us. Al Jaffee was a Mad Magazine’s award-winning cartoonist.

Al Jaffee dead at the age of 102 and still his age never stopped him from working, with a career running from 1942 until 2020, Jaffee also holds the Guinness World Record for having the longest career as a comic artist.

Jaffee died in Manhattan hospital because of multi-system organ failure as his granddaughter Fani Thomson told the news to the New York Times.

Al Jaffee was notable for his work in the magazine called Mad which included his trademark feature, the Mad Fold-in. He retired at the age of 99. Jaffee told the New York Times on his retirement, “I had two jobs all my life, One of them was to make a living. The second one was to entertain. I hope to some extent that I succeeded.”

Jaffee was married to Ruth Ahlquist from 1945 to 1967 and they had two children, Richard and Debbie then in 1977, Jaffee married Joyce Revenson who was a widow. They lived in Manhattan until the death of Al Jaffee at the age of 102.
