16th Street Bridge to Close for ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ Filming

From Monday onwards (May 6), the 16th Street Bridge will be closed for the next few weeks for filming of “The Mayor of Kingstown.”

The Mayor of Kingstown is an American crime thriller television series created by Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon.

The third season of Taylor Sheridan’s Paramount+ series followed, with star Jeremy Renner returning after being involved in the snowplow tragedy on New Year’s Day in 2023.

According to local news reports, the crew and cast have been filming in Pittsburgh for the show’s third season since January.

On May 3, the Allegheny County Department of Public Works approved King Street Productions’ closing of the 16th Street Bridge and David McCullough for filming.

Apart from this, 16th Street Bridge has also been closed for filming.

On what date will the 16th Street Bridge be closed?

If you are a resident there, here is news for them: from the 6th to the 18th of May, the Bridge will be closed overnight; along with this, it will remain closed for the whole day on the 14th and 15th of May.

You can visit the Allegheny County website for more information and other details, including scheduled detours.

Local activists explained how people could keep their jobs, such as crossing the street using Route 28, the 31st Street Bridge, and Liberty Avenue.

A path has also been created from Chestnut Street and surrounding streets that can also be used.

The new season of Mayor of Kingstown will premiere on Paramount+ on June 2. It will feature a new face from the Russian mob and the drug war.

Paramount+ official description of the film is as follows: “Mike McCluskey (Reiner) is under pressure to end the war, but things become complicated when a familiar face from his prison past comes in to help keep the peace between everyone.”

This will be his first show after Jeremy Renner’s fatal snowplow accident on New Year’s Day last year.

Meanwhile, during filming, he roamed around Kennywood this weekend, and you can easily spot the actor in view of the Park.

Additionally, the film injected approximately $90 million into the regional economy, creating more than 3,000 jobs in the area, according to the Pennsylvania Film Office of the Pittsburgh Region.

If we talk about the closure of the 16th Street Bridge, the Allegheny County Public Works Department says that this is not part of the filming but only information in the form of a public service announcement.

While there is still no word on which production was filming, the Pittsburgh Film Office confirmed it was “The Mayor of Kingstown.”

Renner recently told The Hollywood Reporter about dying and coming back to life after the accident.

“There’s a wonderful gift if you can hang on to that superpower of [realizing] what has real value in our lives.”

All I can focus on is this,” he said.

“Doing television is quite arduous. It’s long hours and a lot of heavy lifting. So I’m just focusing on this right now and will see how I come out at the end of it.

He stated that my number one priority is still my recovery and strengthening; I am just getting better, internally and externally, every day.

And it has to be going to work and participating in life in the world again. I’m allowing my body always to dictate what I can and cannot do in my life.”

Sheridan, Dillon, Renner, Antoine Fuqua, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, Michael Friedman, Dave Erickson, Regina Corrado, Christoph Schrewe and Keith Co served as executive producers.

The mayor of Kingstown has not disclosed any other film-related information.
