Filming Begins for BBC and Netflix’s Lockerbie: A Factual Drama on the 1988 Terror Attack

The casting begins for BBC and Netflix’s sixth-part series Lockerbie. The series is based on the true event of the 1988 flight disaster of Pan Am Flight 103.

The story represents a horrific attack on the small Scottish town of Lockerbie. In this horrific attack, 270 people, including 43 British citizens and 190 Americans, were killed.

This emotional story will present the investigation into the accident and the impact it has had on those who lost their loved ones.

The film stars include Connor Swindells, Patrick J. Adams, Merritt Wever, Peter Mullan, Tony Curran, and Eddie Marsan.

The film also stars Lauren Lyle, Andrew Rothney, Phyllis Logan, Parker Sawyers, James Harkness, Khalid Laith, and Amanda Drew.

The series is a co-production between Sky Studios, Peacock, and Carnival Films. Executive producers Sam Hoyle, Gareth Neame, Nigel Marchant, David Harrower, Liz Trubridge, Jim Sheridan, Kirsten Sheridan, and Oskar Slingerland.

Lockerbie is produced by World Productions, an ITV Studios company, in association with MGM Television and Night Train Media.

The film is directed by Otto Bathurst and Jim Loach. It is based on Dr Jim Swire and Peter Biddulph’s book The Lockerbie Bombing: A Father’s Search for Justice.

The series will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the U.K., after that by Netflix in the U.K. and globally.

The BBC and Netflix said, “The project was initiated by filmmaker Adam Morane-Griffiths, whose research includes extensive interviews with Scottish police officers and representatives from United States investigative agencies, many of whom have never previously shared their stories.”
