McKenna Grace has pulled out from Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire Filming. This announcement was made by ‘For the Love of Sci-Fi’ on their Twitter account.
On their Twitter page, they wrote, “Unfortunately, McKenna Grace will now be unable to attend this event as due to the strike ending, she has been called in for some additional filming for the upcoming Ghostbusters movie.”
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire will be released on March 29, 2024. Directed by Gil Kenan, who also directed popular movies like Poltergeist, Monster House, City of Ember, A Boy Called Christmas, etc.
Distributed by Sony Pictures and produced by Jason Reitman; and Jason Blumenfeld. Production companies include Columbia Pictures; Bron Creative; and Ghost Corps.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the film McKenna Grace was filming when she pulled out of that 2023 convention appearance, went on to release in March 2024 as a follow-up to Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Its box office reception was considered lukewarm compared to Afterlife’s. Since then, franchise talk has continued: Grace has given updates on a potential next installment, and director Gil Kenan has confirmed ongoing conversations with Sony about carrying the series forward, with producer Jason Reitman still attached. Separately, Sony Animation and Netflix are developing an animated Ghostbusters feature, which could end up reaching audiences before any live-action Frozen Empire follow-up gets a green light.
