Lights, camera, action! The production team has started shooting for Blue Lights’ upcoming second season across the greater Belfast area.
The cast and crew and police cars were seen in the Monkstown area of Newtownabbey as it appeared the cast was filming scenes inside a house.
The production team were seen shooting near Whiteabbey and in the heart of the Cathedral Quarter over the past few days, with interior scenes filmed inside The Harp Bar.
The first season of the Blue Lights series aired last year, telling the story of police officers working in Belfast, a city famous for the unique pressures and dangers that being a frontline response police brings.
The drama thriller series was created by the duo of Declan Lawn and Adam Patterson and was a big hit and was nominated for Best New Drama at the National Television Awards last but unluckily it lost out to Netflix hit Wednesday.
The cast who is back for season two includes Siân Brooke as Grace Ellis, Katherine Devlin as Annie Conlon, Nathan Braniff as Tommy Foster, Martin McCann as Stevie Neil, Joanne Crawford as Helen McNally, Andi Osho as Sandra Cliff.
The series is expected to be released in the spring of 2024. (External Link: belfastlive)

Blue Lights Update (2026)
Updated July 2026. Blue Lights, the Belfast-set police drama that filmed its second series around Monkstown, returned for a third season on September 29, 2025, with new cast additions Cathy Tyson and Michael Smiley joining as the show pushed its storylines toward organized crime hidden behind a veneer of middle-class respectability. The series has continued to build on the breakout success of its first two seasons, and the BBC has since given a fourth season the green light, with filming scheduled to begin in February 2026, keeping the show’s Belfast production base busy well beyond its original 2023 debut.
