After releasing in 2019, The Gentlemen has arrived on Netflix at the right time. Just 2 months after the famous series first debuted, the film is now streaming on Netflix.
The film has received mixed reviews from critics, receiving 84% of the audience on Rotten Tomatoes.
This film became a big hit, making a huge splash at the box office and collecting a total of $115.2 million, with a budget of only $22 million.
The Gentlemen attracted audiences in the United Kingdom, earning $15.9 million, while in the United States and Canada, it earned $36.5 million. It earned $62.8 million from other territories.
In November 2022, news came that The Gentlemen’s series had been greenlit by Netflix, whose plot will be written by the duo of and Matthew Read.
Guy Ritchie will direct the first two episodes of the series and will also serve as the director with Ivan Atkinson, Marn Davies, and Bill Block.
The Gentleman’s series stars Theo James, Vinnie Jones, Kaya Scodelario, Giancarlo Esposito, Daniel Ings, Joely Richardson, Peter Serafinowicz, Alexis Rodney, Chanel Cresswell, and Max Beesley.
The series follows, “When aristocratic Eddie inherits the family estate, he discovers that it’s home to an enormous weed empire — and its proprietors aren’t going anywhere.”
Meanwhile, 2020’s The Gentlemen follows, “MICHAEL, a successful British businessman in the illegal weed market, is looking for a way out of his lucrative trade. Making money is getting tougher. It’s not the ride it once was.”
“A savvy operator, he casts a wide net looking for buyers to take over his empire, chancing on a pair of likely lads from across the Atlantic.”
Some of the more positive reviews of The Gentleman film include, “Filled with crosses and double-crosses, the plot is mostly irrelevant, but the outlandish flourishes make for a good deal of foul-mouthed fun” by Brian Lowry of CNN.
