Filming for Extracted began in mid-2024 and finished later that year. The survival part of the show was filmed in Whistler, a famous mountain town in Canada. This area is known for its tall mountains, thick forests, and freezing weather. Contestants had to face wild animals, cold nights, and rough terrain while trying to survive.
As per Westword reports One of the contestants, Rose Hyak, shared how difficult the experience was:
“I didn’t realize how hard it would be to be alone. It brought back so many memories, but it helped me grow.”
Whistler’s harsh environment played a big role in the show, making survival even tougher for the contestants.
📍Midtown Manhattan, New York, USA
The second filming location was a high-tech headquarters in Midtown Manhattan. This is where family members watched the contestants live through cameras and decided if they needed help.
The headquarters was located at 1211 Avenue of the Americas, in the center of New York City. Here, family members faced tough choices: should they send help, let their loved ones suffer, or pull them out of the game?
One contestant’s mother, Laura Foster, said watching was stressful:
“We could see everything. It was hard not to help, but we knew it was a competition.”

Filming in Whistler was very dangerous because of the weather and wildlife. The crew had to be extra careful to keep contestants safe. In New York, the control room had dozens of screens showing every move the contestants made. This made the show even more intense.
The contestants were not allowed to communicate with their families, making the emotional decisions even harder.
