George A. Romero’s ‘Twilight of the Dead’ Confirmed for Filming

George A. Romero’s upcoming zombie horror filmTwilight of the Dead‘ is confirmed for Filming. Romero s known for his zombie films, the filmmaker started filming with his 1968 film Night of the Living Dead.

This spawned a decades-long franchise, where Romero directed films like Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, and most recently, Survival of the Dead in 2009. This was the last movie he directed before his death in 2017 from lung cancer. He died at the age of 77.

He wrote a film treatment titled Twilight of the Dead, before his death which would conclude his epic saga. Filmmaker, George A. Romero is collaborating with Roundtable to produce the film.

The script is written by Joe Kennetter, Robert Lucas, and Paolo Zelati, who also worked with Romero on the treatment. The film is expected to begin shooting in late 2023 in Puerto Rico.

According to Deadline, the film will “delve into the dark nature of humanity from the perspective of the last humans on earth who are caught between factions of the undead.”

“Thought-provoking sociopolitical commentary wrapped in a genre piece.” Producers have called it.

The film, Twilight of the Dead is coming under the production of Suzanne Romero, John Baldecchi, Sarah Donnelly, Paolo Zelati, and Stephanie Caleb, with executive producers Dominic Ianno, Alex Dundas, Jason Resnick, Chris Roe, and Luis Riefkohl. (External Link: comingsoon.net)
