This is a time of celebration for ‘Tron: Ares‘ director Joachim Rønning, the cast, and fans as their filming has ended.
The filming of your favorite and most awaited film has been completed today, the film’s director, Joachim Rønning, announced on his Instagram by sharing behind-the-scenes images.
The Norwegian filmmaker shared a series of pictures from the set in Vancouver on May 6 and revealed in the caption that the filming is concluded.
He captioned, “That’s a wrap on TRON:ARES 🥏 Thanks to an incredible and tireless crew, I really believe we pushed the filmmaking limits on this movie. Even through six weeks of night shoots you never slowed down.”

During the filming, the director kept updating us on his Instagram account. Just a few days ago, he announced the arrival of Jeff Bridges in his reprising his role as Kevin Flynn in the film.
He shared the picture of Jeff reading the script on the set and captioned, “What an absolute honor and joy to work with the legendary Jeff Bridges 🥏 #flynnlives #tron.”
When did ‘Tron: Ares’ start filming?
After many delays, the filming commenced in the first month of 2024, news of which was also shared by the filmmaker on Instagram by sharing the post of the chair with the Tron logo and captioned it, “WEEK 1 ON THE GRID🥏🥏🥏 #Tron”
Earlier, the filming was expected to commence in August 2023, but it got delayed due to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
Who is making ‘Tron: Ares’?
The anticipated film is being led by Joachim Rønning, and the screenplay is written by Jesse Wigutow and Jack Thorne. It serves as the sequel to 2010’s Tron: Legacy, which earned $400 million worldwide at the box office.
The film stars Gillian Anderson, Cameron Monaghan, Evan Peters, Jeff Bridges, Jared Leto, Sarah Desjardins, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, and Hasan Minhaj.
Sean Bailey, Jared Leto, Steven Lisberger, Emma Ludbrook, Jeffrey Silver, and Justin Springer are producing the film with executive producer Russell Allen.
Last week, Jeff Bridges made headlines when he revealed that he was going to shoot the third film of Tron on Saturday.
Bridges stated, “I’m heading off this Saturday to play a part in the third installment of the ‘Tron’ story.” He continued, “I’m excited about that. … Jared Leto is the star of this third one, and I’m really anxious to work with him … to see what the technology is going to be all about.”
The film is slated to hit theatres on 10 October 2025 by Disney Plus.
