A 2023 American musical fantasy film ‘The Little Mermaid‘ is distributed by Walt Disney Studios and Motion Pictures on May 26, 2023, in the United States and is making quite an impact at the domestic box office.
The Little Mermaid held its world premiere at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on May 8, 2023, and the London premiere at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square on May 15.
Filming of the film was expected to begin in London between late March and early April 2020 but was delayed by COVID-19 and took place from January to July 2021 primarily at Pinewood Studios in England and on the island of Sardinia, Italy.
The fantasy film was released in 4,320 theaters and the film is expected to gross between $120 million and $130 million over the four-day Memorial Day weekend.
The film earned $10.3 million in previews on Thursday and ranking as the seventh-highest haul for a movie rated G or PG and it is expected to gross over $100 million over the holiday weekend. The film was produced with a $250 million production budget.
The film stars Halle Bailey in the titular role of Ariel, a curious and headstrong mermaid princess alongside Jonah Hauer-King, Daveed Diggs, Awkwafina, Jacob Tremblay, Noma Dumezweni, Art Malik, Javier Bardem, and Melissa McCarthy. Here is the trailer of the film check it out.
