Netflix Crew’s Terrifying Ordeal: Shark Attacks in Hawaii During Filming of Our Planet II

The Netflix docu-series Our Planet II has some serious issues while filming the series and got face to face with Sharks, and seems to have experienced its real-life “Jaws” remake.

Our Planet II was released on Netflix on June 14, 2023, and has a total of four episodes, and each episode follows animal populations and their navigation with an ever-changing planet and the series includes different animals like humpback whales, polar bears, bees, sea turtles, and gray whales.

While filming in Hawaii the production crew encounters tiger sharks because of which one boat exploded and they have to do an emergency landing. Huw Cordey, one of the show’s producers shared with Forbes.

“But the first day the tiger sharks were around, the crew got into these inflatable boats – and two sharks attacked them. It was like something out of ‘Jaws.’ The crew was panicked, and basically made an emergency landing on the sand.” Cordey said.

A producer and director for the show’s first and third episodes Toby Nowlan also spoke with Radio Times and shared the experience with sharks, “This tiger shark leaped at the boat and bit huge holes in it,” he said. “The whole boat exploded. We were trying to get it away and it wasn’t having any of it. It was horrific. That was the second shark that day to attack us.”

“They were incredibly hungry, so there might not have been enough natural food and they were just trying anything they came across in the water,” he added.
