Soon, the streaming media service Disney+ will bring a new television series titled “Shardlake” with Television Broadcaster Hulu. Its directorial credit goes to Justin Chadwick, and writers Stephen Butchard and C.J. Sansom script it.
Shardlake is based on C. J. Sansom’s historical mystery novels series of the same name which is set in the reign of Henry VIII in the 16th century.

The filming unit traveled to Austria’s Capital, Vienna, for the filming of the Shardlake series and filmed at various locations. Vienna is the most populous city and federal state which has been called the “City of Music” due to its musical legacy. According to the 2019 census, Vienna’s total population was around 1.897 million.

Vienna’s Burg Kreuzenstein Castle is a Castle in Leobendorf, Austria, which was built in the 12th century. The film crew used Kruzenstein Castle outside Vienna to film most of the math scenes shown in the film. This castle was built on the ruined remains of a medieval castle.

Hungary is another chosen filming location where many key sequences of the series took place. It is a landlocked Country of the “European” Continent. Its capital, Budapest, is the Biggest city on both sides of the Danube River and is noted for its spectacular views.
This country is relatively small but rich in diverse, beautiful landscapes and natural resources and is mainly noted for its abundance of thermal and mineral water sources. As per the 2022 census, Hungary’s total population was 9.643 million.

European Country Romania’s Hunedoara Castle/Hunyadi Castle also known as Castelul Corvinilor (Corvins’ Castle) is also selected for filming Shardlake.
To record the views of the remaining monasteries, film crew used Hunedoara Castle in Transylvania. You can easily spot this castle in the background of the film, but the scenes at Hunedoara Castle have been slightly altered by visual effects.
This Gothic-Renaissance castle is open for visitors and local public from 12 noon to 8 pm on Monday and from 9 am to 8 pm on Tuesday-Sunday, as well as is also known as one of the largest castles in Europe and one of the 7 Wonders of Romania.
