Deadlines report that filming for Riddick: Furya will commence on August 26 in different locations in Germany, Spain, and the U.K. The makers have decided to shoot the latest fourth installment in these countries.
Who is making Riddick: Furya?
The film is led by David Twohy, who also wrote previous films of the franchise, including Pitch Black (2000), The Chronicles of Riddick (2004), and Riddick (2013).
The trio of David Twohy, Jim Wheat, and Ken Wheat are writing the screenplay for the upcoming film, and the legacy actor Vin Diesel is coming in his reprise role as Riddick.
Samantha Vincent is producing the latest installment for One Race Films and Radar Pictures, and the leading actor Vin Diesel is also serving as the executive producer.
The official synopsis says, “Riddick finally returns to his homeworld, a place he barely remembers and one he fears might be left in ruins.”
“But there he finds other Furyans fighting for their existence against a new monster. And some of these Furyans are more like Riddick than he could have ever imagined.”
Riddick 4 has been in work since 2014
The talks of making Riddick 4 first started in 2014 when the Legacy actor told Universal that he wanted to make the next film in this franchise in 2013, Riddick became “number one on the DVD charts.”
There was no news of the film from 2014 to 2020, fans were hoping to see Riddick’s next film but six years after the announcement, in 2021 Diesel revealed that David Twohy is directing the next film.
“David Twohy … wrote a great script. It’s just a matter of timing when we get that opportunity to shoot that.” He stated.
On Feb 10, 2023, Twohy officially reunites with Vin Diesel for the Fourth Film “Our legion fans have demanded it for years, and now we’re finally ready to honor their call-to-action with Riddick: Furya,” Twhoy said.
“My collaboration with Vin and One Race has spanned 20 fruitful years, as together we’ve created three movies, two video games, an anime production, and motion comics for the internet. This new big-screen event will see a return to Riddick’s homeworld, where we finally get to explore Riddick’s genesis.”
