‘Percy Jackson’ Team to Reunite for Season 2 Filming This Fall

After two years of pre-production and almost 30 weeks of hard work filming Percy Jackson & the Olympians, the action-adventure series returns in 2025.

Bringing the thriller from Greek mythology to the small screen on Disney+

Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2 is ready with more adventure, with writer, series co-creator, and executive producer Rick Riordan confirming they are set to begin filming.

Following the massive success of Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 1, Riordan revealed that the upcoming season will focus on the children’s novel The Sea of Monsters, adapted from the Percy Jackson books, which are among the best novels.

In the new season, Walker Scobell will play the titular god, the son of human Sally Jackson, and the Olympian god Poseidon.

Other cast members in the series also include Virginia Kull and Stephens.

While Percy Jackson updated its fans, in an update published on May 2, Riordan revealed that he will not be doing a book tour for the new PJO spinoff book, Wrath of the Triple Goddess.

At the time of writing, Riordan celebrated the character’s “rebirth” in the TV show, and a second season will be produced in the autumn.

Here it is written: “Sadly, I will not be doing an in-person tour for this book in the fall. If everything goes according to plan, we anticipate being back at work producing season two of Percy Jackson and the Olympians by then.

He added, honestly, I want a breather from touring! Last year was incredible with three different media tours — for The Sun and the Star, Chalice of the Gods, and the TV show. But this year will be more about catching up with projects.”

On February 7, Disney+ confirmed that season 2 would be based on the second book in Riordan’s Percy Jackson series: The Sea of Monsters.

“I can’t wait to bring the next season of Percy Jackson to Disney+! Raise anchors. Hoist the mainsail. All hands on deck, demigods,” the author said in a press release. “We’re heading for the Sea of Monsters!”

He also clarified that there is no possibility of making any official announcement, saying,

He added: “At any rate, we have just begun our casting conversations for season two. When I know which actors have been chosen for what parts, I will let you know, but that is still quite a ways away.”

Walker Scobell, Leah Jeffries, and Aryan Simhadri Jackson are some of the other cast members from season 2, reprising their respective roles as Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, and Grover Underwood.

The producer also took another social platform, Threads, to share an update about production.

“A good first day yesterday in the PJO season two writers’ room!” he wrote.

“As I mentioned, we had a mini-room going before the WGA strike to start the scripts on the assumption we’d get a green light, so we aren’t starting from zero this week.”

Riordan added, “The scripts we have so far are in excellent shape. I can’t wait to see more of Luke, Clarisse, and Mr. D in [sic] S2. And, of course, Tyson! It was great to see our writing team again. Going back in today!”

Scobell is set to return as Percy Jackson, Jeffries as Annabeth, and Simhadri Grover.

The first season starred Lance Reddick as Zeus, who died in March 2023 before the series launched on Disney+.

Dan Shotz, executive producer, said in 2024, “With Lance, we recently got a text from his wife who said how proud he would’ve been of seeing it.”

“We all talk about this all the time,” Scobell said. “We call [Jonathan and Dan] sometimes and tell them.” The actor said he recently watched The Hunger Games. “I thought Sam Claflin would be a fabulous Apollo.
