Mark Wahlberg on ‘Arthur the King’ and the Power of Faith

In an interview with Movieweb, Mark Wahlberg was discuss about his upcoming inspirational drama, Arthur the King. He said, “I mean, everything that I do, I credit all my success to my faith, both personally and professionally.

“And I think if it wasn’t for my faith, and a little bit of heightened reality and belief in myself, I would have never done the things that I’ve been able to accomplish. So, I’m really trying to encourage people that anything is possible if you’re willing to do the work.”

“And sometimes putting yourself out there, taking risks, risking looking ridiculous and failing and falling on your face — these are the kind of chances that you have to take. And I really believe that anything is possible, and I’m living proof of that.

“I will encourage people to gravitate towards that and take some risks, take some swings, and also encourage them to be better and do better.”

Arthur the King is set to be released on March 15, 2024, by Lionsgate. Arthur the King is based on the book Arthur – The Dog Who Crossed the Jungle to Find a Home by Mikael Lindnord.

Mark Wahlberg also discussed sporting events in the film, including mountain biking, climbing, and white water rafting.

He said, “It was good until I busted my knee on day one. I did all the things that I wanted to do. You always just want to look the part. I always feel like if I can be believable as a guy who had to go out there and run an adventure race, then I’ll do the man justice.”

“But you know, after I tore my knee, everyone else was worried that we were going to shut down the production and that I was going to have a surgery, and Mikael was like, ‘No, this is what it’s about. We have to go through all the pain and the suffering.'”

“I never really even knew anything about adventure racing. And also to know that Mickael, who I knew to be one of the most selfish guys in the world in his pursuit of achieving his ultimate goal of winning the world championship, did the most selfless thing by sacrificing the race and his dream to save Arthur, even though he wasn’t really a dog person, it just kind of happened.”

“He realized afterward, just sitting in the street, thinking ‘Oh my god, I actually did this. What am I going to do now?’”

Directed by Simon Cellan Jones and written by Michael Brandt, Arthur the King is an adventure film starring Mark Wahlberg, Simu Liu, and Juliet Rylance. The film is based on a true story.
