Richard Jay Belzer was not only an actor he was also a stand-up comedian, and author. Richard Jay Belzer is no more among us. Belzer passed away at the age of 78.
Belzer died on February 19, 2023, at his home in Beaulieu-sur-Mer from complications of unspecified circulatory and respiratory conditions. According to The Hollywood Reporter writer Bill Scheft, a longtime friend of the actor confirmed the news “He had lots of health issues, and his last words were, ‘F*ck you, motherf*cker,’” Scheft said.
The news was also announced by Laraine Newman, who worked with Belzer on Saturday Night Live on NBC. Laraine Newman tweeted “I’m so sad to hear of Richard Belzer’s passing. I loved this guy so much. He was one of my first friends when I got to New York to do SNL. We used to go out to dinner every week at Sheepshead Bay for lobster. One of the funniest people ever. A master at crowd work. RIP dearest.”

I feel blessed to have known you and adored you and worked with you, side by side, for so many years. How lucky the angels are to have you. I can hear them laughing already.
