Wicked is an upcoming epic musical fantasy film starring Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Jonathan Bailey, Jeff Goldblum, and many more along with director Jon M. Chu.
Jon M. Chu has revealed the first-look photos of the Wicked film. The director Jon M. Chu shared through his Twitter account a glimpse of Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba who is a Wicked Witch of the West along with Ariana Grande as Glinda who is a Good Witch of the South.
Chu captioned the photos with “You weren’t told the whole story. What happens when you veer off the Yellow Brick Road? Here is your first LOOK of #WickedMovie … currently in production in Oz.@WickedMovie, @UniversalPics“.
The film is split up into two parts and is currently in production. Wicked is set to release by Universal Pictures on November 27, 2024, while a sequel will be released the following year.
“We decided to give ourselves a bigger canvas and make not just one ‘Wicked’ movie but two! With more space, we can tell the story of ‘Wicked’ as it was meant to be told while bringing even more depth and surprise to the journeys of these beloved characters.” Chu announced.
The film’s filming was set to begin in June 2022 in the United Kingdom at the Sky Studios Elstree facilities.
