It’s been a few days since the release of Boy Kills World, and in these few days, there is a lot of talk about the new pair of Famke Janssen and Brett Gelman as both of them have been seen together and their chemistry is loved by the fans.
After getting much fame from Fox’s X-Men franchise, Liam Neeson-led Taken trilogy, and Netflix’s Hemlock Grove, Dutch actress Famke Janssen has now shifted to Boy Kills World.
Our Brett Gelman has also played a lot of roles, but some of his famous roles are in Eagleheart, Fleabag, and Stranger Things.
The name of Boy Kills World is also included in this list as, according to me, his role in this film was the best.
Both Famke Janssen and Brett Gelman play the role of the villain family in Boy Kills World. As per Wikipedia, Janssen plays the role of June 27, “an enforcer working for the Van Der Koys” and Brett Gelman is portrayed as Gideon Van Der Koy, Hilda and Melanie’s brother.
The story becomes fun when Bill Skarsgård’s boy is modified to recreate these two as Hilda murdered his mother and sister in front of him, leaving him deaf and gangly.
Apart from Famke Janssen and Brett Gelman, the main cast includes Bill Skarsgård as Boy, Nicholas and Cameron Crovetti as young Boy, Michelle Dockery as Melanie Van, Isaiah Mustafa as Benny, Andrew Koji as Basho, Famke Janssen as Hilda, Sharlto Copley as Glen Van, Yayan Ruhian as Shaman, Quinn Copeland as Mina.
The supporting cast includes Jody Abrahams, Natalia Aleksandrowa, Zainab Azizi, Inge Beckmann, Reza Brojerdi, Nena Butler, François Chau, Jane de Wet, Ashley Dowds, Dorothy Ann Gould, Blake Isaacs, Ilse Klink Ilse, Rolanda Marais, Jasmine Maylam, Gershwin Mias, Martin Munro, Katherine Neethling, Pierre Nelson.
The leading cast, Famke Janssen and Brett Gelman had an interview with Screen Rant, and they talked about the villain’s motivations and “Shakespearean” vibes.
Famke Janssen talked about her role by saying, “To me, Hilda was just this beautiful lost soul that couldn’t face her own reality anymore.”
“She literally ended up in a cave by herself, facing our own demons and getting further and further lost in that, you know, beautiful schizophrenic mindset of herself. So that was an interesting journey to explore for sure.”
Brett Gelman shared his experience on his role by saying, “Yeah, for me, I thought it was a really hilarious detail to him that he was actually a misunderstood writer.”
“That was his real calling, not being a homicidal dictator, but I thought that there was a lot of pathos to him too. A lot of pain of just this incredibly complex character who is facing this moment of having guilt and regret for how he’s lived his life, and that he has a dream that he may or may not achieve, and he’s sort of caught in this family.”
“It’s sort of a prison to him, in the situation that he has. So, all of that pain, and then all of that humor, was really exciting to play.”
Famke Janssen told ComicBook.com that she had “never use other characters from other movies as my inspiration, because then I worry that I’m imitating someone or something that’s already been done before,”.
She added, “So I try to go into this deep well of hurt and childhood dysfunction, and all the voices that…mm!…and then I use it.”
