Principal photography was under way by August 2025, and one report puts the first day at August 19, 2025. The shoot wrapped on October 26, 2025. The crew worked in three countries and five cities, as both Rachel Morrison and cinematographer Todd Banhazl said in their wrap posts (see the Behind the Scenes section). The U.K. part came first, according to Morrison’s post from September 2025, and the final days were spent in the U.S.
📍Lisbon, Portugal
Lisbon is the heart of the film, and the story’s second half takes place here. The Cinemaholic reports about two weeks of shooting in the city. The trailer and first images show Lisbon’s yellow trams, its streets and the River Tagus, as noted by Idealista. Magazine HD says the crew filmed in the Alfama neighborhood, and one location list also names Rua de São Domingos à Lapa. We could only find that street in a single source, so please treat it as unconfirmed. The drama mixes old tiled buildings with steep hills, which suits a story about rebuilding a life. Some fan lists also mention Rossio Station and the 25 de Abril Bridge, but we could not find a reliable source for them, so we are not counting them as confirmed.
Visiting: Alfama and the tram routes are public, and you can walk around freely.
📍Largo da República, Alcochete
Alcochete is a historic town across the Tagus estuary from Lisbon, about 30 minutes away by road. The Cinemaholic lists its main square, Largo da República, as a location, and one list links it to festival-style scenes with Maya and Felix. We could not confirm the scene, so please treat that as a report. The square is a public space with whitewashed buildings, and it is quieter than central Lisbon.
📍Praia da Marinha, Algarve
Praia da Marinha, in Caramujeira near Lagoa, is one of the best-known beaches on the Algarve coast. It has golden cliffs, clear water and natural rock arches. The Cinemaholic names it as a filming spot, and it gives the film a bright seaside contrast to Lisbon’s streets. Some lists also name Praia do Buraco in Portimão, which is a different beach, so we are not sure which was used. The beach is public, but please take care near the cliff edges.
📍London and Norfolk, England
Sessions Arts Club, at 24 Clerkenwell Green in London, is listed as a location. It is inside the old Clerkenwell Sessions House, a historic building with a very striking interior. The Cinemaholic also mentions a small piece of filming at South Beach in Heacham, Norfolk, which we could only find in that one report. Rachel Morrison shared photos of the “UK chapter” in September 2025. London is a busy film city, and you can browse more titles in our London category.
📍Massachusetts and New Orleans, USA
Maya’s life starts in Boston, and the film’s hair and makeup credits list a Massachusetts shoot. The crew then moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, for the last days of filming. Margaret Qualley and Patrick Schwarzenegger were photographed together on set there on October 23, 2025, as reported by Yahoo. The exact streets in either place have not been confirmed, so it is best not to assume which scene was shot where. If you want another recent New Orleans shoot, see our guide to Hit Man, and for more U.S. titles check our Louisiana collection.
