Nocturne is a 2026 crime thriller series from Apple TV, based on the Joona Linna novels by Lars Kepler. It was created by Rowan Joffé and developed by John Hlavin, who is also the showrunner. The first two episodes were directed by Tim Van Patten, known for The Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones.
Liev Schreiber plays Jonah Lynn, and Zazie Beetz plays Saga Bauer. Stephen Graham, Bill Camp, Rory Culkin, Chrissy Metz and Gary Carr are also in the cast. The story takes place in a small Pennsylvania town, and the crew shot it in and around Pittsburgh. If you like dark thriller stories, you can find more in our series section and across our Pennsylvania collection.
Jonah Lynn is a former homicide detective who moves to a quiet small town in Pennsylvania to start over. His peace does not last. A dangerous serial killer, Jurek Walter, is locked away in a psychiatric facility, yet the town soon comes under attack. Saga Bauer goes undercover to get close to the killer, and the hunt turns into a tense game between the two sides.
Nocturne premieres on October 30, 2026, with the first two episodes. New episodes then arrive weekly on Fridays. iClarified lists 10 episodes with the finale on December 25, 2026, but Wikipedia only lists directors for the first six so far, so please treat the episode count as a report.
The series streams on Apple TV. If you enjoy the platform, you can find more shows in our Apple TV section.

The show was shot in Pittsburgh and nearby towns. Wikipedia says filming began in summer 2025, and the crew worked under the secret title Parallax, which is why local news first called it by that name. TribLive reported scenes in New Kensington in November 2025.
Apple has not shared official dates, and some websites give exact start and wrap dates, but we could not confirm them, so please treat the timeline as a report. We also could not confirm who handled the cinematography, and we will add it as soon as it is credited. For more shoots from across the country, visit our USA page.
📍Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Pittsburgh is the main base. The city and its river towns offer old steel-town streets, brick buildings and hillside neighborhoods, which suit a gloomy small-town thriller. Local production news shows the crew was active across Allegheny County during the shoot. Apple has not named every street or building, so we cannot point to one address for most scenes yet. Pennsylvania has hosted other crime stories lately, and our guide to Task shows another side of the state.
📍New Kensington, Pennsylvania
New Kensington is a small city on the Allegheny River, northeast of Pittsburgh. TribLive reported that an Apple TV series was filming here in November 2025, and the secret title Parallax matches this show. The report did not tell us which scenes were shot in the town, so it is best not to assume that any single building appeared on screen.
📍Dormont (Dor-Stop Restaurant)
Local reports linked the Dor-Stop, a popular diner in Dormont, a borough just south of Pittsburgh, to the production under the Parallax name. A 4 Filming report says the diner was dressed as a place called “The Counter Stop.” We could not find an official confirmation or a second source, so please treat it as unconfirmed. If it is true, the diner would be an easy stop for fans, since it is a regular working restaurant. Please check its hours before you go.
📍Casino Theatre, located at 145 Lincoln Avenue in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania
Address: 145 Lincoln St, Vandergrift, PA 15690, United States
Some reports mention Vandergrift, a planned town in Westmoreland County, and its Casino Theatre on Lincoln Avenue. We could not verify the street address or which scenes were filmed there, so it is listed as reported only. The same unconfirmed lists also name West Mifflin and the CCAC South Campus, plus a Parallax crew sighting in South Buffalo. We are not treating these as confirmed, and we will update this section when Apple or the local film office shares an official list.
Nocturne Behind the Scenes
To make your search for Nocturne filming even more interesting, here is a fun fact from the set. Rory Culkin, who plays Karl, told The A.V. Club that some of his key scenes happen through a window with Stephen Graham, who plays the killer Jurek Walter. He also talked about preparing for those scenes with Graham and director Tim Van Patten.
We will add more cast and crew Instagram posts and set photos here as soon as they are shared.
Is There Any Trailer Available for Nocturne?
Yes, the official trailer is available. Apple TV released the first trailer on September 29, 2026, according to iClarified, and Yahoo Entertainment covered it as the first look at Zazie Beetz going undercover.
The trailer was released by Apple TV. The series premieres on October 30, 2026, and it is available on Apple TV only.
