Author Bryn Donovan said in a May 2026 blog post that the Hallmark movie of her book would be shot in Vancouver that summer. Filming then took place in July 2026.

Star James Trevena later said he spent three weeks on the shoot, so that is a fair guide to how long the work lasted. Most of the work was done in the Greater Vancouver area, and some Vancouver-area streets were dressed up to look like Chicago.

📍Vancouver, British Columbia

Vancouver was the main base for the movie. Hallmark needed a big American city for the story, and the Vancouver area is a favorite stand-in for places like Chicago.

A few streets were changed with signs and set decoration to give that big-city look, though the exact streets have not been shared. If you want to see the real Chicago on screen, you can browse our Chicago collection and spot the difference. The museum where Emily works has not been named either, so we cannot say which building was used for those scenes. To see more shoots from this part of the world, visit our British Columbia page. The forest series Blue Skies was also shot in the province.

📍A Tudor-Style Mansion Near Vancouver

Bryn Donovan visited the set and wrote about it in her set visit post. She was taken to a Tudor-style mansion, where the crew was filming outdoors on the grounds, with trucks, trailers and tents all around. She flew into Vancouver and stayed in a town about 45 minutes away, but she did not name it.

A grand old house like this is a lovely fit for a story about a medieval knight. Still, there is no proof yet that the house stood in for Griffin’s past or for any special place in the story. The property and the exact scenes shot there have not been officially named.

📍Abbotsford, British Columbia

Some sites report that part of the film was shot in Abbotsford, in the Fraser Valley east of Vancouver. We could not find an official source for this, so please treat it as a report and not a fact. The city has its own film office page for productions, which shows how often crews work there. Another Hallmark romance shot in the province is Absolutely Devoted to You, which used Victoria.

A Knight to Remember Behind the Scenes

The movie is based on Bryn Donovan’s 2024 novel Her Knight at the Museum. She has shared that the book was picked up for a movie before it came out, and that the movie would leave out the more grown-up parts of the story.

During her set visit she sat in the video village with the director, the art department, the script supervisor and Hallmark executives. She was also asked to be an extra in a dancing scene. James Trevena already knew horseback riding and sword fighting, which helps when you play a knight.

Chris McNally, Julie Gonzalo’s real-life partner, has a cameo in the film, and their young daughter appeared as an extra. Trevena also shared set photos and videos on Instagram and called the shoot a gift.
