📍Bonanza Creek Ranch, Santa Fe, New Mexico

Bonanza Creek Ranch is the main filming location. It sits on Bonanza Creek Road just outside Santa Fe and has a full Western town set, built from more than 24 old-style buildings. The film’s production designer, Robb Wilson King, says on his official website that his team built a brand-new church for the movie.

In his words, it “sits proudly on the Hill overlooking the Western Town Set,” so it can stay on the ranch for future films. The ranch has been used by filmmakers for more than 70 years, and its list of films includes The Cowboys, Young Guns, 3:10 to Yuma and Cowboys & Aliens. It also appears in the Tom Hanks Western News of the World, which used Bonanza Creek Ranch and other spots around Santa Fe. Fans of old-style Westerns will also like Hostiles, another film that shot scenes near Santa Fe.

📍Santa Fe and the Nearby Area, New Mexico

Besides the ranch, the production worked in and around Santa Fe. Santa Fe and the land around it have long been a favorite for Westerns because of the high desert, wide open views and historic ranch country. We do not know yet which scenes were shot away from the ranch, and no other exact places have been shared. If you want more shows filmed in the same region, the mystery series Outer Range Season 2 was also filmed around Santa Fe.
