The house is owned by Lance Zaal, the president of US Ghost Adventures. He wrote a September 2026 post about the Netflix series on the house’s official website and signed it as the owner of the Lizzie Borden House.
According to Smithsonian Magazine, Zaal bought the home in May 2021 for close to $2 million. Before him, it was run as a bed and breakfast by Donald Woods and Lee-Ann Wilber.
The real address is 230 Second Street in Fall River. In Lizzie’s time it was numbered 92 Second Street, and the number changed in 1896.
Today it works as a museum and bed and breakfast. Zaal invites visitors to come for a tour or stay overnight.
So what does the owner think of the show? Zaal wrote that he disagrees with some of the story choices. Still, he welcomes the attention, because it may lead fans to learn the real history. He also said he hopes to get something from the show for the museum.
Was the show filmed at the real house? Apparently not. High On Films says no reliable production source has confirmed that Netflix filmed inside the real Lizzie Borden House. TheWrap also calls it unlikely.
The house does show up in the story, though. In one scene, Aileen Wuornos (Sarah Paulson) and her girlfriend stay at the Borden bed and breakfast. Netflix says Wuornos was arrested in 1990, years before the house became a B&B, so that stay never happened.

The show was filmed mainly in Los Angeles. Wikipedia says the main shoot began in September 2025 and wrapped in March 2026. A second team also worked in Italy for about five weeks.

Netflix’s own site says the season was filmed largely in Los Angeles. The city stood in for Fall River in the 1890s. The crew used period sets and costumes to make that work.
Heritage Square Museum in Montecito Heights is reportedly one of the LA spots. It is an open-air museum with old Victorian-era buildings. We found this in only one outlet, and Netflix has not confirmed it. So it is believed to be a location, nothing more yet.

A production team worked around Rome from January 22 to February 25, 2026, according to Italian reports. About 200 crew members were there.
Netflix says the Elizabeth Báthory flashbacks were filmed in the Lazio region. Reports name Castello Orsini-Odescalchi in Bracciano, plus Largo della Cattedrale and Piazza Saminiati in the town center. None of these places stand in for the Borden home.
