The series follows Chief Inspector Armand Gamache as he investigates cases of the Quebec village, Three Pines, finds long-buried secrets, and faces a few ghosts of his own.

But unlike the books, the series also includes a secondary storyline in the series, with Gamache investigating the disappearance of a young Indigenous woman.

1. Three Pines, Quebec, Montreal (Canada)

The Town shown in the series is not a real town it’s a fictional town Three Pines was filmed in Saint-Armand, a picturesque small village amalgamated with Philipsburg.

However, the author of the Three Pines novel series Louise Penny is a resident of the fictional village and takes inspiration from the real-life region of the Eastern Townships.

Apart from ‘Three Pines,’ Montreal has provided the production of a number of movies and shows over the years like ‘300,’ ‘The Notebook,’ ‘The Voyeurs,’ ‘Ghosts,’ and ‘Future Man.’

The police station was shown in the series in Montreal and was filmed at the brutalist-style Université de Montréal Faculty of Law building which is located near the Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal.

In the series, Jacques Cartier Bridge appears every time the action shifts to Montreal, and the beautiful Jacques Cartier Bridge was shown crossing the Saint Lawrence River.

The bridge crosses Saint Helen’s Island in the center of the river and allows access to the Parc Jean-Drapeau and La Ronde amusement park.

In the series, the small general store which is shown is situated in Saint-Armand was completely renovated. Saint-Armand is a municipality in the Canadian province of Quebec that also inspired Louise Penny’s novels.

The house of CC de Poitiers shown in the series is filmed in the Manoir Thibaudeau in Beauharnois which was built in 1895 and is a historic Victorian building that is one of the most imposing manors in the region.
