Emilia Clarke, famous for her roles in Game of Thrones and Terminator Genisys, has faced many physical challenges in her career, but one of the most unexpected injuries happened while filming her new show Ponies.
The actress plays Beatrice Grant in Ponies, one of the two women whose husbands die mysteriously, pushing them to take action as CIA agents. In one particular scene, Bea has to seduce a high-level KGB operative, which means performing intimate scenes with multiple men in the same day. And that’s where things went a bit wrong for Emilia Clarke.
While filming one of the sex scenes for Ponies, in a conversation with The Wrap, Emilia Clarke says she broke a rib. “Three men, in a number of hours… I broke a rib that day,” she recalled. The actress explained that it wasn’t a complete break, just a small injury where her rib popped out slightly.
Her co-star, Haley Lu Richardson, joked about how delicate Emilia’s body was and added, “She really did.” According to Richardson, she was laughing at how tired and breathless the men looked after working with Emilia.
The injury didn’t keep Clarke down for too long. When she visited the doctor, she told them honestly what caused the issue. “Sex! Times three!” she joked. Luckily, the rib injury was not severe, and Clarke assured everyone that it’s now healing well.
The show, Ponies, is available for streaming on Peacock, and fans can now watch Clarke’s intense and daring performance as Bea. This scene was just one of the challenges Emilia faced while portraying her character’s complicated emotions and actions.
