The shooting of one of the most anticipated TV series, “The Chosen,” has resumed in Utah.
The Chosen is an American Christian historical drama television series created by Dallas Jenkins. It is a multi-season series about the life and ministry of The Chosen.
Coming back to Utah for Season 5 after the success of Season 4.
Creator, writer, director, and producer Dallas Jenkins described Utah as a homecoming. Production is scheduled for 68 days, including 26 days in Utah and 42 days in Texas.
According to the local news reporter KSL, Jenkins said, “The very first time I ever visited this set, I felt that God was putting on my heart that great things were going to happen here,”
The cast and crew are filming in Goshen, Utah, where The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was founded.
Meanwhile, the new season follows the New Testament up to the last week of the mortal life of Jesus Christ.
Jenkins further stated, “The actual set they built is so extraordinary, it’s humbling. I always feel very grateful when I’m here, and then I feel a sense of responsibility, that the set is so great, the setting is so great we’ve got to live up to it.”
He continued, “Holy Week, which is the biggest, most impactful, most crucial week in the history of the world. There is no pressure on us.
Later, he added, “But this is a season where things get bigger, the tension rises, and obviously, we’re approaching the crucifixion and, ultimately, the resurrection. And what happens leading up to that is significant.”
On the first day of shooting, 600 fans packed the set, some from Utah and the US and others who had flown in from around the world.
However, some even came from South Africa to meet their favorite actor.
Heartbroken fan Ed Miller flew to the set from Mississippi and revealed the show captivated him from the first episode.
“When you watch ‘The Chosen’, it doesn’t matter what scene or episode or the story being told. It just draws you in. There’s just such a feeling of the Bible’s just coming to life. So, it’s awesome.”
He knew this was the only way to be a part of the production “The Spirit manifests in certain scenes. It’s just like, a rush comes over you, and you’re like, oh man, I wouldn’t rather be anywhere else than right here,” Miller said.
The previous season of the film was released in February. Meanwhile, after the legal challenges, other cases will also gain momentum by mid-May or early June.
Jenkins also addresses the issue honed in Season 4: “Season 4 reflects today’s issues”.
“It’s coming at a time when there are so many divisions in the world, and this season is showing just how many challenges there are, showing the different tribalism that took place, even in the first century, still happening today,” Jenkins said.
“The show has become a salve for a lot of people, and it’s almost like a comfort, and it gives them something of hope that I think is needed now more than ever.”
Jonathan Rumi, who plays Jesus Christ, appeared in front of the crowd and answered them, “Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and to God the things that are God’s.”
The highly anticipated series will span seven seasons with over 200 million viewers and has now been translated into over 50 languages.
He stated, “My hope with this show is that I’m able just to keep focused and humbled as we go through each season and that the show continues to do what it’s been doing so far, which is having an impact on people around the world, in every country in the world, in every language.”
“For every age group, people are saying this show is changing their lives, and if that can continue, there’s nothing better than that,” he said.
