The Fall Guy Behind-the-Scenes: Ryan Gosling Adds “Rescuer” to His Resume

Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt arrived on screen with great chemistry and outburst stunts.

In the new Netflix film, released on March 12, 2024, Ryan Gosling plays Colt Sievers, a Hollywood stunt performer who double-stunts for well-known action star Tom Ryder.

The Fall Guy is an action, drama, and thriller directed by David Leitch and written by Glenn A. Larson and Drew Pearce. The cast includes Emily Blunt, Ryan Gosling, Hannah Waddingham, and many more.

In the latest report, Ryan Gosling reveals how he saved actress Emily Blunt from drowning during the film’s shooting.

Gosling plays Colt Sievers, a stuntman tasked with locating missing movie star Tom Ryder and restoring his relationship with the love of his life.

Throughout the film, he performed stunts, exploring outstanding action sequences filmed in Australia. However, filming on location sometimes became difficult due to the continent’s bad weather.

During a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actors talked about the day Monsoon arrived on the Fall Guys set and how he saved Blunt from drowning.

Ryan Gosling revealed, “The day that Emily was too chill!”

Emily Blunt added, “Yeah, this story’s ridiculous. To be fair to Ryan, I had not realized that a monsoon had hit base camp. I was having a quiet little 22-minute meditation to myself, at which point my door blew open.”

She added, “It was like a hurricane, and Ryan was like Last of the Mohicans: “You need to leave!” I was meditating, and now he thinks I meditate too much.”

Gosling continued, “I thought you were too chill. This is a problem! You’re too zen, wading out in this knee-deep water.”

Where Blunt added: “The trailers were floating away. I was surprised that my driver, Scott, had not come and knocked on the door saying, “We should go.” Scott was listening to Spotify.”

I think he got washed away. I just saw his hands above the surface”, Gosling added.

“All I remember from that day is Aaron Taylor-Johnson taking off most of his clothes and running around basecamp in the water. He was still very much in character. It was just a regular, run-of-the-mill day on set in Australia. We went to Australia for the weather, and that’s what we ended up with.”

The new film earned good reviews from critics, with a current score of 83% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The action-comedy film grossed $28.5 million at the box office, against expectations of $30 million against an estimated budget of $150 million.

Although it became one of the biggest opening weekends ever for a Gosling film and was one of the most well-received films currently playing in theaters.

Gosling said, “I remember I cried too hard, and they cut it out. There were so many tears.”

Blunt responds, “The number of tears they cut in the post was almost hysterical.” “He’d just been set on fire. He was undercaffeinated.”

“It was a moment for Colt to get it out. “All Too Well” came on, and he had a good car cry. I mean, he’d been through a lot. He was jet-lagged”, added Gosling.

Gosling said, “So yeah, that song comes on, you’re going to let it rip. A little Taylor Swift comes on, and you’re alone in your car in the parking lot…

Blust replied, “You think you’re in a safe space. You’re not. Someone comes to shame you for hysterically crying.”
