Utah: The Surprising Hub for Hallmark-esque Movie Filming and Production

Utah is a fictional small town where Hallmark’s Christmas movie takes place. It is actually a Surprising Hub for Hallmark-esque movies.

Some Film makers talk about making retro films, but because they always look at the world through the eyes of famous film directors Alfred Hitchcock, or Steven Spielberg.

Brough said, “We never saw it as a career, just a kid film or school project here and there,”

He only took one film class and then went to Film Brigham Young University, where his passion for producing films grew even more.

Brittany Wiscombe, who believed she would write for a newspaper. She graduated with a degree in print journalism.

Brian Brough started working on films during his time in school. After school, he started working on film sets. As he got work, he also suggested his sister to work with him.

Wiscombe said, “It was a lot of sacrifice for years; we didn’t pay ourselves for a long time.”

Candlelight has filmed all over the world, including projects in Turkey and Costa Rica, most include at least some scenes in Utah.

Brian Brough said “We film Christmas year-round but we love filming in winter in Utah as much as possible.”

“We don’t have to worry about green leaves on trees, and actors don’t have to fake being cold — and real snow always films best.”
