Tron: Ares Resumes Filming in Vancouver Post-Suspension: Jared Leto Leads Cast with Evan Peters, Greta Lee, and More

After a three-month break, Tron: Ares is finally back in process! filming is set to resume in Vancouver City in British Colombia, right after a long break. The lead role will be played by the talented Jared Leto, although the details about his character are still under wraps.

Director Joachim Rønning has assembled an impressive cast, including Evan Peters, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Cameron Monaghan, so get ready for an epic adventure!

It appears likely that Monaghan will indeed be playing a “virtual” character in the film’s digital world, given his experience with motion capture in the Star Wars: Jedi video game series.

It is currently uncertain whether Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, and Olivia Wilde will reprise their roles or not. The news of the movie’s production commencing is a welcome one, especially after the director’s comments in August when he revealed that over 150 employees had been laid off from the project.

At the time, Rønning disclosed the film’s plot, which, given the current concerns about AI in the industry, seemed remarkably prescient. He also addressed the reasons for the SAGAFRA strike and provided insight into the situation.

He stated, “Today was supposed to be our first day of principal photography on TRON: ARES (a movie subsequently about AI and what it means, and takes, to be human).”

“Instead, we are shut down with over a hundred and fifty people laid off. It’s indefinite, which makes it exponentially harder for everyone.”
