Melissa McCarthy was part of the famous Gilmore Girls an American comedy–drama television series. Melissa McCarthy played the role of Sookie St. James who was Lorelai’s chirpy best friend and chef/co-owner at the inn.
Melissa McCarthy who worked on the set of Gilmore Gils for all seven seasons of Gilmore Girls recently revealed the big downside to filming the show mother-daughter who was starred Lauren Graham as Lorelai Gilmore and Alexis Bledel as her daughter, Rory Gilmore but it seems like the fictional town of Stars Hollow wasn’t that much magical as it appears on the screen.
The filming of the show actually took place at the Warner Bros. Studio in Los Angeles, California and Melissa shared with Entertainment Weekly about the filming of Gilmore Girls “Sometimes we were like crammed into small things with coats on but it was actually like 112 degrees in Burbank and we were like, ‘Ooo, Connecticut.’ And no one’s explaining why I have malaria and why I’m in a full flop sweat.”
McCarthy tells host Alexis Wilson “When we did our first poster, someone passed out, Like just out cold because we were all in coats and trying to look blustery.”
When the host asked Melissa where her character is today jokingly McCarthy says Sookie and Jackson are likely growing weed. Jackson Douglas played the role of Jackson Belleville, Sookie’s husband in the show and a local farmer and he and Sookie share two children throughout the show.
“She still cooks, but I think she does edibles… I think they run a very nice little mom-and-pop business with their 13 kids and she makes delicious edibles,” she added.
In 2016 the show was picked up for the Netflix reboot, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life but McCarthy wasn’t the part of show at that time, McCarthy tweeted, “No one asked me or Sookie to come back to Stars Hollow. Wish them all the best!!”
