The co-founding guitarist and vocalist of Bachman-Turner Overdrive “Tim Bachman” is no more among us.

Tim’s son, Paxton Bachman informed the news through a Facebook post on Friday that his father died from complications with cancer “throughout his brain.”

“My Dad passed this afternoon. Thank You Everyone for the kind words, Grateful I got to spend some time with him at the end. Grab yer loved ones and hug em close, ya never know how long you have.” he said

Paxton also shared the final moment with him “I sat with Dad yesterday afternoon and reminisced about some of the good times we had, he was pretty out of it most of the time, but at one point looked up at me with really, big wide eyes and said, ‘I love you, Paxton, keep sharing the music…’ and then passed back out.”

“It’s really hard watching your parent lay in bed helpless and sick and there’s nothing you can do to help them. Breaking my heart. Thankful for the time we got to spend together.” he concluded.

Tim Bachman died at the age of 71. Tim’s death is announced after his brother and fellow bandmate Robbie died at age 69 in January.

In Memory: Tim Bachman’s Legacy Remembered

Updated July 2026. Bachman, remembered here for the cancer complications that took his life at 71, passed just three months after his brother and bandmate Robbie Bachman died in January 2023. Together they helped build Bachman-Turner Overdrive into one of the 1970s’ defining rock acts, with the band selling more than 30 million albums worldwide on the strength of hits shaped by the Bachman brothers’ songwriting and guitar work. He is remembered by fans and former bandmates as a foundational voice in Canadian rock history, and part of one of classic rock’s more bittersweet family legacies.
